In this fourth phase, the goal is to continue to refine content and add interactives, media, and images. Review and revise with collaborators to ensure a consistent workflow and avoid duplication of content. It is recommended that you submit a chapter or two to the library technologist for quality review as they are finished.
If you are creating an open textbook, consider creating or adapting ancillary resources to accompany your text. Don't worry, the Open Learning team can help! These might include:
Test banks
Slide decks
Other teaching resources
Here's an example: Academic Success Strategies in a Virtual Environment by Durham College. Click on supplementary materials under the book summary.
If you are creating an open textbook, complete the following:
Complete author descriptions, acknowledgements, and introduction sections.
Complete the book information section of the Pressbook.
Request a book cover.
Sign up for an ORCiD and send that ID to the Open Learning team.
Keep in contact with the OER Consultant so that OER projects assistants can provide first line accessibility and copy checks.
Checks are ongoing through the development phase to ensure project quality and that deadlines are met.
Revise your work based on feedback from the OER Consultant, Instructional Designer, and OER assistants.
Once all checks are passed and your content is complete, submit your finalized work to the Library Technologist for the final review before publishing. At this point, your administrator access will be removed and you will not be able to alter any content. This is to ensure no changes are made during or after the final check. The Library Technologist will be checking for accessibility, formatting, and tech issues, and will make recommendations. The Library Technologist is not a subject-matter expert.
