Common Questions

For more information please review the Engineering Workbench user guide or contact the ETT Library Team

Can I download and save pdfs?

Yes, you can download and save pdfs for personal use only.  You may not share pdfs. Depending on the issuing organization (for example, ASME), some pdfs use Digital Rights Management protection.  You can only open these secure pdfs with Adobe Acrobat Reader that has the FileOpen Systems Inc. plugin installed.  If you see a padlock on the pdf viewing menu, you will need to use the FileOpen plugin.

Can I print standards?

Yes, you can print from the saved pfd file.

Can I share links to specific standards?

Yes. You can share document-level persistent links using Get Link (the link symbol on the top right in the pdf menu).

Why do I get results I can't access?

Engineering Workbench is a massive database that contains content beyond our subscription.  Resources with a shopping cart icon are not part of our current subscription.

I need access to a standard not in our collection.  How can I request a standard?

Faculty and staff that require access to standards to support courses or research should email the ETT Library Team.  Students requiring access to standards to support Capstone projects should discuss the requirement with their instructor.  Faculty who confirm the requirement should then email the ETT Library Team.
