Fines for Overdue Material

You are responsible for all items signed out on your Conestoga Library account. Fines for late items are calculated according to the rates below:

Recall fines of $5.00 per day to a maximum of $50.00 if an overdue item is requested by another library client.  

 

Replacement fees if an item is lost or damaged. 
Course Readings (Reserve Collection - Main Desk)  1 day $5.00 per day to a maximum of $50.00  Replacement fees if an item is lost or damaged.  
Course Readings (Reserve Collection – Main Desk)  2 hours $1.00 per hour to a maximum of $50.00  Replacement fees if an item is lost or damaged.  
Note: Technology & Equipment loans follow a separate fine structure.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Fines may be paid in person at the Doon Campus Library with VISA, Mastercard, debit, or ONECard Condor Cash. We are unable to accept cash for fine payments.
  • Clients who are unable to visit the Doon Campus Library in person may pay their fines with VISA or Mastercard by phoning the Doon Information and Research Desk at 519-748-5220 ext. 3361
  • Doon Campus Library staff can only accept payments during our regular service hours.
  • To check the due date/time and to renew eligible resources, sign into your Library Account using your Conestoga email and password.
  • Overdue fines are charged when certain items are returned late.
  • Recall fines are charged when a book or periodical requested by another library client is returned late. Be sure to check your Conestoga email for notices regarding recalled/requested items signed out on your account.
  • Replacement fees are charged if any library resource is damaged or misplaced. If a damaged/lost item is overdue, replacement fees will be charged in addition to overdue/recall fines.
  • Clients may contact our Circulation Team to appeal a fine on their account by filling out the Late Penalty Appeal form.
  • Use your Conestoga email in the Email Address field.
  • Provide a clear and concise explanation regarding why you are appealing a fine charged on your account.
  • Provide as many relevant details as possible.
  • The Circulation Team will review and provide a status update regarding all appeals in 1 to 2 business days (Monday to Friday).
  • Appeals can only be considered before fines are paid.
  • Our Circulation Team can assist with questions via email. Please only use your Conestoga email address when contacting College staff and services.
  • Circulation staff respond to emails within 1 to 2 business days (Monday to Friday).
  • Faculty, staff, and students may borrow library resources using their ONECard.
  • Alumni and Community Borrowers may apply for a library card to borrow books and journals.
  • All library clients are responsible for items signed out on their Conestoga Library accounts and should not share their ONECard/library cards with other people or borrow items on behalf of other people.
  • If a library resource is misplaced or returned late/damaged, the client whose account the resource is signed out on is responsible for the charges accrued.
  • If your ONECard is misplaced or you have reason to believe that someone else is using your card, contact the ONECard Office immediately to suspend the missing/compromised card and request a new one.
  • If your Library card is misplaced or you have reason to believe that someone else is using your card, visit your home campus Library to request a new card. You will be required to show a valid photo ID with your current home address to request a new card.
