Gen AI and Academic Integrity

Before you plan on using Gen AI to help with your school work, review the following:

Before you use generative artificial intelligence for coursework, make sure to check assessment and assignment instructions. If it is not in writing, email your instructors to confirm what is allowed and not allowed. If you are permitted to use Gen AI tools, confirm how you can use the tool in your work.

Using AI tools without your instructors' permission is considered to be an academic integrity violation called "Using Unauthorized Aids and Assistance”

Do not use Conestoga's login information to create accounts and do not input any private and personal information.

Do not copy and paste copyright-protected materials into a Gen AI tool unless you have written permission. Copyright-protected works can include course materials, publisher's material, or material found on the Internet.

Always make sure to critically assess the information provided by Gen AI tools. Educate yourself about any Gen AI you use and understand the risks when permitted to use it. Visit Gen AI and Research [opens a new tab] to learn how to evaluate your sources.
