Creating Your Own Figures and Tables

When creating your own figure or table rather than taking it from a source, you should still follow APA format. Include

  • the table or figure number based on the order it appears in your paper (e.g. Figure 1 or Table 1) written in bold at the top,
  • a clear, explanatory title using italics and Title Case Capitalization below the figure/table number and above the figure or table itself, and
  • for tables, clear concise headings for columns using Sentence case capitalization.
