Social Media

Social media posts may include discussion forums, posts on Facebook or twitter, etc.

Do not alter spelling or capitalization in a social media post, and retain hashtags, links, and emojis when possible. Include a retrieval statement with the date you accessed for any information that can change.

Post /Tweet

Use this format for original content on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, etc. Include the author and/or username when available (see About Authors).

Formula

Author, A. (Year, month day). Content of the post up to the first 20 words [Description]. Site Name. URL

Profile/Page

Use the following formula if you are using information from the user’s home or profile page rather than a post. Include a retrieval statement with the date you accessed the information before the URL.
